The Bordel de Mer – Episode 001

June 9, 2011

Welcome to this first episode of “The Bordel de Mer” !

For nearly 5 years, I’ve been doing an Internet Radio Show called “Bordel de Mer” in French (90 episodes up to date). My goal was to present sea shanties (either traditionnal songs or new compositions) and to talk about what’s going on in the world fo Sea Shanties.

About a year and a half ago, I started to think about doing the same show, but in English. My goal in doing so, was to reach out to as many artists as possible. In French, I was able to reach groups from France, Brittany, Quebec, USA, Holland, Poland, Belgium, England. But there is a lot more to discover out there !!!  Hence, “The Bordel de Mer”.

If you’re part of a group, if you’re a solo artist and you would like to have your songs played on the show, please write to me at : info@bordeldemer.com and I’ll give you all the details to send me your CD’s.

On today’s show:

  • Essequibo River (Chris Ricketts – CD: Port of escape [out in Fall] – Lyrics and Music : Traditionnal)
  • Trois marins (Stetrice – CD: Naoned e Breizh – Lyrics and Music : Patrice DESHAYES)
  • Down Trinidad (Bob Walser – CD: When Our Ship Comes Home- Fresh Songs From Salty Traditions – Lyrics and Music : Traditionnal)
  • Prizonerion En Angleter (Cabestan – CD: Gwerz Penmarc’h – Lyrics and Music : Traditionnal)
  • La corde et au noeud (Les Copains à bord – CD: Quand tu poseras ton sac à terre… – Lyrics : Hervé Guyot / Music : Thierry Tichit)
  • Arktyka (Banana Boat – CD: A morze tak, a moze nie… – Lyrics and Music : Banana Boat)
  • Reagan Dougan (Michel Tonnerre – CD: Ti-Beudeff – French lyrics : Michel Tonnerre / Music : Traditionnal)

Have a great week and I’ll see you next Friday !
