The Bordel de Mer – episode 034

February 5, 2012

Hello everyone!

I would like to apologize if I sounded too pessimistic the last two weeks about the SOPA and PIPA bills. They cause me great concern, of course, but I’m sure we will find a way to continue sharing songs (old and new) over the Internet despite them (if they become law).

NEWS:

Mystic Seaport is calling for papers for the 33th Annual Music of the Sea Symposium. The deadline to propose a subject is February 15, 2012. The Symposium will be held on June 8-9. For more information, follow this link to the Call for papers.

On this episode, you will hear:

  • The Dead Horse Shanty (Tom Kastle – CD: Tommy’s Gone Home To Hilo – Words and Music: Traditional)
  • La Polka Des Marins (Les Gabiers De l’Odet – CD: Du Banc d’Arguin – Lyrics: Henry Jacques / Music: Inconnu)
  • La Chanson Des Mousses (Taillevent – CD: Peuples Des Côtes – Words and Music: Traditional)
  • La ligne Allworth (Babord Amures – CD: Partance – Words and Music: Graem Allwright)
  • L’annexe à Pierrot (Belle Mer – CD: On touche le fond – Words and Music: Gilles Ferragu)
  • Sea fever (Scheepsfolk – CD: New Horizons – Lyrics: John Masefield / Music: Catharina Buijs)
  • An Anglezed (Barababord – CD: Karreg Su – Words and Music: Traditional)
  • Goodbye, Fare You Well (Indygo – CD: Oddech Morza – Words and Music: Traditional)
  • Les bancs de Terre-Neuve (Avel Trez – CD: Odes marines – Words and Music: Traditional )

Have a great week!

Jean-François
