Hello everyone!

Welcome to the 7th season of The Bordel de Mer, the sea shanties podcast!

For the first episode of this 7th season (the 12th in French), I wanted to try something new: recording the show in video!

It was something I wanted to try for a while and I wanted to see how much time it would take me compared with doing it only in audio.

The idea was to explore new ways to get sea shanties and sea songs more available to the general public. Doing an episode in video seemed to me like a natural step from what I’ve been doing for the last 12 years.

I was surprised to realize that doing it in video didn’t take that much more time than doing it in audio only. So, while I can’t promise to do every show in both audio and video, I know that I’ll be doing some more in the future.

The audio episodes will always be available for you to download them and listen to them wherever and whenever you want.

I didn’t get the time in 2017 to repair the problem which led to the show not being available on iTunes, but I’ll get to it in the next few weeks.

Hope you like it! -)

On this episode, you will hear:

  • I never had the blues (Scheepsfolk – CD: It’s maritime folks! – Lyrics and Music: Rob de Jonge)
  • De mer en mer (Cré Tonnerre – CD: Quatre rhums à la mer – Lyrics and Music: Patrick Weyders)
  • Lakes of Amerikey (David H. B. Drake – CD: A Schooner Songbag – Lyrics and Music: David HB Drake)
  • Le Vengeur / Les Corsaires (La Bouline – CD: Chansons Des Deux Marines – Lyrics and Music: Traditional)
  • The Galway Girls (Paddy’s Passion – CD: Ready for the storm – Lyrics and Music: Bert Hobo)
  • Ik Voer Laatst Over Zee (Drijfhout – CD: Dwalen en Struinen – Lyrics: Traditional / Music: Nils Koster)
  • The Two Of Cups (Stetrice – CD: Tu Es Là – Lyrics and Music: Beth Patterson/Tomaz Boucherifi-Kadiou)
  • Adié Foula (Taillevent – CD: Peuples Des Côtes – Lyrics and Music: Traditional)
  • La Godille (Matelots En Bordée – CD: Chants De Mer Et De Marins – Lyrics and Music: Henry Girou)
  • Pull Down Below (Bounding Main – CD: Kraken Up – Lyrics and Music: Traditional)

Have a great week!
